HC to take up case on poultry farm certification

August 29, 2016

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad High Court will examine on Monday the rationale behind the insistence of authorities on small poultry farms in Telangana getting themselves certified by National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) in order to remain eligible to supply eggs to anganwadi centres throughout the state.

A single judge had earlier held this rule as untenable and stayed the state's tender notice to procure eggs. However, as a result supply of eggs to anganwadi centres was stopped. The Telangana government filed an appeal seeking vacation of the stay.

Several poultry farm owners had approached the high court and told it that despite several orders from that very court, authorities were insisting on NECC certificates from farms.
